Michel Wieviorka, French sociologist, administrator of the Fondation Maison des Sciences de l’Homme (since 2009), founder of the Collège d’Etudes Mondiale in Paris, founding editor of the sociological journal Le Monde des Debats, as well as the co-editor the Cahiers internationaux de sociologie. He is the author of seminal works on violence, terrorism, racism, and the theory of social change, including Société et terrorisme (1988, The Making of Terrorism, 1993) that received the Bulzoni Editore Special Award of the European Amalfi Prize for Sociology and Social Sciences in 1989.
