The City for the Cultures of Peace: International Interdisciplinary Institute is an international research and training network with coordination nodes in  Washington DC (USA), Ottawa (Canada), Paris (France), Lugano (Switzerland) as well as  representatives,  liaison offices and/or partners in several other cities, including Brussels (Belgium), Venice (Italy), Düsseldorf (Germany), Boston (USA), San Juan (Puerto Rico), and Rio de Janeiro (Brazil).  The network includes international research and training teams operating under the guidance of a director and a board of senior scientific advisors. Each team organizes and implements cultural and academic activities, including conferences, forums, and  research projects in different countries. A hub of the network and a new coordination node of world-wide activities is being established in Lugano, a city of peace which is both an important cultural, political, and economic crossroads as well as a gateway between North and South.
