CITY FOR THE CULTURES OF PEACE:
INSTITUTE FOR COEXISTENCE STUDIES AND INTERCULTURAL MEDIATION

From December 2009 to December 2012, the City for the Cultures of Peace, its Institute ICSIM, a branch of III, and its Foundation for the Cultures of Peace (web page under construction), a foundation of public utility under the supervision of the Division of Justice of the Department of Institutions of the Republic and Canton of Ticino, organized 30 academic and cultural activities in Lugano in order to promote the dialogue between the CCP guest speakers from abroad at the ICSIM and members of the Ticino and Lugano community. Some of these events were held in the former Town Hall of Breganzona, others in Lugano’s Palace of Congress and at the University of Italian Switzerland (USI). In addition, the CCP co-sponsored events and participated in activities organized by other institutions. CCP guests in Lugano included Nobel Laureates and other prominent writers, scholars, and scientists who not only gave public lectures, but also engaged in long-term research, training, and publication projects at the ICSIM in Lugano. For more information on research projects, see web site section: Research

In 2013, the City for the Cultures of Peace moved its center of activities from the former Town Hall of Breganzona (Lugano) to Paris, France. Yet the City for the Cultures of Peace will continue to cooperate with institutions and organizations in the Ticino and Lugano devoted to peace and mutual recognition.
