1. MESSAGE:

We condemn the horrific murders of George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery. Our hearts go out to their family and friends. We stand in solidarity with them, the African-American communities, and the peaceful protesters who call for justice, an end to police brutality against people of color, and a fundamental change in policies in order to effectively combat racism! We are full of admiration for Ahmaud Arbery’s and George Floyd’s family and friends because they did not ask for vengeance, but for justice and peaceful protest against racism. We are proud of the peaceful protestors. Thousands of them took to the streets to demand an end to racism. We stand in solidarity with them. Anti-racist education is one of the main projects of the City for the Cultures of Peace. We are determined to continue our work and to combat racism through education. We are committed to inscribing mutual recognition and respect into the consciousness of the present.

Amy-Diana Colin, President of the City for the Cultures of Peace

3. „GLOBAL JUSTICE?“ – A RESEARCH AND STUDY PROGRAM

GLOBAL JUSTICE? – A PANTHER PROGRAM CO-ORGANIZED BY THE CITY FOR THE CULTURES OF PEACE IN COOPERATION WITH THE STUDY ABROAD PROGRAM AND GLOBAL STUDIES CENTER AT THE UNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGH in the Maison Suger/FMSH, Paris, France.

This global program focuses on divergent, even incompatible notions of global justice (political, cultural, philosophical, religious, legal) across cultures and countries. It features lectures by prominent political figures and scholars. The program uses an interdisciplinary approach, enriching the cross-cultural experience of students. It is ideal for students of all majors interested in justice, human rights, and peace. The program is for registered University students only. It is closed to the public. The first program was held 3-17 August 2014.
