INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH ON PEACE AS A POLITICAL, ECONOMIC, SOCIAL, AND CULTURAL PHENOMENON; EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS AND TRAINING; FIELDWORK; A DECENTRALIZED DYNAMIC STRUCTURE.
The City brings together scholars, scientists, and other professionals from different areas of creative activity in order to discuss and attempt to find new solutions to key problems which cannot be solved by specialists in individual disciplines. In this respect the City intends to be an inter-cultural and inter-disciplinary place of encounter. It hopes to bridge the centuries old gap between the humanities and other disciplines: the natural and social sciences, economics, technology, management, and business.
As in a cubist painting, all aspects of a phenomenon, concern or question are taken into consideration and analyzed from a multiplicity of perspectives. Special attention is given to the historical dimensions of problems. The possible solutions will be made available to a broad public via Internet, media, and publications.
The City for the Cultures of Peace has the support of prominent political figures, scholars, scientists, writers, artists, other professionals from different disciplines and countries, as well as representatives of major universities, foundations, and global organizations.
The City cooperates worldwide with universities, cultural institutions, foundations, and major international organizations devoted to peaceful resolution of conflicts.
