The term “cultures of peace” was used to specify that these conferences and forums further develop basic concepts inherent in the UNESCO Manifestos and Programmes for a Culture of Peace, while exploring a diversity of cultures rather than “a culture” of peace. CCP Conferences and Forums on the Cultures of Peace were held in different cultural capitals or cities of special political significance, including Berlin, Frankfurt am Main, Vienna, Lucerne, Lugano, Ottawa, and Buenos Aires.
